Tidy up Tuesday – the pantry edition

(I’m sure anyone who knows me, or has ever set foot in my house is rolling, if not on the ground, then their eyes at the thought of me doing a Tidy Up Tuesday post).
One of the things I loved about this kitchen (is it always the kitchen?) when we first saw it was the amount of storage space. For years I’d dreamed of taking my fondue pot out of the spare room and actually storing it in the kitchen. Of having my punch bowl on the same floor as my kitchen, of being able to keep all of the food I bought in one room. And now, here were all the cupboards I needed.
But (there’s always one of those isn’t there). But the cupboards weren’t practical. They are 2 feet deep and none of the shelves moved so items at the back were lost forever. Well, lost until we were at our friends’ for dinner and noticed they’d retrofitted their very similar cabinets.
Now all we needed was time (aka hubby’s vacation). The man really should take more vacation, I like what it does to the house!
Here are the useless cabinets, filled with tins and packages just waiting to be forgotten and go past their best before dates:

And here are the same shelves, only now fully functional and organized (You have no idea how giddy this makes me):
I may still be opening them up just to do a Vanna White impersonation.

I am envious of your huge cupboards and pull put drawers! The *only* thing I miss about our old house is the pantry.
