Sometimes my friends have the best ideas.
At the suggestion of a couple of very, very smart people, hubby and V hopped into action on Friday, dropping Chet off at the kennel, narrowly avoiding disaster at the train station and finally hopping on a train, V’s first train ride:

It was only delayed 40 minutes or so
to meet me in Toronto (I call this her first visit since the only other time we were there was a stopover on the way to Jamaica) for a fun family weekend. V’s boyfriends (twin 5-yo boys) were also in the city with their parents (the aforementioned smarties), and the 4 adults spent the majority of the weekend feeling out-numbered and out-energy’d by the under 4′ crowd (sadly not a first).
Oh, did I mention we took them to the Canadian International Auto Show (first auto show for my baby)? Needless to say they *needed* to climb in every vehicle. Or on:
The great thing was if one of them went missing you just had to look in the nearest car.
And then, because we didn’t quite know how insane we were, we took them out for dinner, via the street car (first public transport ever, she’s got her eyes on the subway next). Sorry I don’t have pictures of that, we were too busy making sure they didn’t jump off that teeny median into traffic.
Oh wait, hubby found a moment when they weren’t all trying to give us heart attacks and got two of their favorites in one pic.
Needless to say, after the drive back on Sunday I was really glad Monday was a holiday, as I needed the rest…hmm, come to think of it, if those friends were so smart they would have figured out the recuperation part too!
Recuperation would have been good on Monday, but alas, it wasn’t to be and now I’m exhausted and it’s almost Friday! Had a great time and so glad hubby and V were able to come. When is our next trip?!!!!
I hear it’s in March!
