Quite possibly the most pathetic protest ever.

June 5, 2012

CTV news reports some residents of Holmwood Avenue are up in arms again about Landsdowne development. This time they’re upset that trees need to be cut down to either decontaminate the soil or to move a building, not sure which is the truth, but either way, on hearing this I pictured majestic, old trees succumbing to capitalist chainsaws, while treehuggers fight the good fight to save them, risking life and limb.

It’s too bad we’re not going to have  a record of these trees, I mean the Google street view car clearly missed them, deciding instead to only photograph the relatively young trees. (Trees I might add I’m sure the developers will replace four-fold)

Let’s give them the benefit of the doubt. They love the trees and they’re going to go full-out Julia ‘Butterfly’ Hill for them, right? Well, no. Apparently their passion may actually match the severity of the situation. I mean, we’re not talking about a 1500 year old tree here, we’re taking, what? 25?

What’s an appropriate reaction then? Oh right, chain a decrepit, piece of junk to the barricades. photo

Mission accomplished, your pain has been heard.

I object to your characterization of that bike as decrepit! It looks like a perfectly nice bike to me.
