Stream of Consciousness Sunday: Challenged

July 8, 2012

This week’s prompt – write about a time when you were challenged.

I am a procrastinator. You might have figured that out by the amount of time I spend on the surfing, or reading, or as I mentioned that I just got the paperwork together (yesterday) to file for the 2010 and 2011 taxes. So when I really want to get things done, it needs to be a challenge. You know like those all-nighters to get the paper done on time, only for middle-aged, suburban housewives. So less Redbull/No-Doze or whatever it is kids are using these days.

Want to get that craft room cleaned out? I need to sort through a box a night. Oh and the sub-challenge it to throw out x number of items a night. Need to get the 10 boxes of books (you know, the ones that wouldn’t fit on the bookshelves) out of the basement? Read a book a week, and for every book I read, give one away. (Heck, join bookcrossing!) Need to destash? How about knitting a sock a night for a month? That way you get everyone’s Christmas presents done too…(Have I mentioned my favorite time to Christmas shop is the 3 days before Christmas?)

Oh, and the bonus round challenge, being a procrastinator and all, I tend to be late to events. So the extra  challenge is to move 20 minutes further away from everything and then try to be on time.

This was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…

  • Set a timer and write for 5 minutes.
  • Write an intro to the post if you want but don’t edit the post. No proofreading or spellchecking. This is writing in the raw.
  • Publish it somewhere. Anywhere. The back door to your blog if you want. But make it accessible.
  • Add the Stream of Consciousness Sunday badge to your post.
  • Link up your post here.
  • Visit your fellow bloggers and show some love.

I love the idea of making the events challenges! I don’t know how the moving greater distance would work for me – I love to get as much sleep in the mornings as possible.

C'mon, tell me what you think. You know you want to!
