730 in 365
This is a fun one, and a bit hard for me to accomplish. The idea is to purge, give away, sell, donate, or throw out 2 items every day for a year (or the equivalent that will get you to 730 items total.)
I’ll be keeping track here and mainly using freecycle to accomplish my goals. One of the biggest downfalls to using freecycle is that there is just so much good stuff offered, I’ll have to resist the temptation to bring 1460 new things in!
My first attempt was a horrible failure, mostly from lack of bookkeeping, but with a touch of hoarder thrown in. I’m drawing a line under it all, and restarting the counter at May 5th:
May 6 – 4 pr kids shoes, 3 bras, 30 people magazines, an ADSL modem, 4 dress up costumes, stack of mis-matched envelopes, brown leather boots = 44 items
Aug – 20 sewing patterns, 1 toolbelt, 1 cookie tin = 22 items
Sept/Oct – 3 halloween craft kits, 11 scarecrow stakes, 2 swiffer handles, 1 skirt, books (3), splash pants = 21 items
Nov – 3 nailpolish, 20+ samples, 8 dresses, 1 windbreaker, 1 pair of splash pants, iPhone case, rims and tires = 16
Nov 25 – dress, pr of shoes = 2 items
Nov 28 – 14 receiving blankets, 3 bassinet sheets, 15 knitting patterns, 6 wool sweaters, 2 onesie extenders = 40 items
Nov 30 – dog bed, runner, 4 floor mats, entry mat, snow suit, 25 VHS tapes = 33 items
Dec 2 – 2 dresses = 2 items
Dec 3 – 2 lampshades, 1 lamp = 3 items
Dec, Christmas – 2 dresses, 1 turkey = 3 items
Dec 28 – 4 toques, 3 Sens hats, 5 pr kids mitts, 2 kids hats, bag full of milk bags, 10 reusable bags, duffle bag, Team Canada track suit, pink jacket, running room beanie, car seat, Barbie 4-wheeler, sz12 runners, 3 pr pants, 2 teeshirts, goodmama diaper = 38 items
Dec 30 – snow suit, 15 ornaments, nativity scene, kid snowpants, 3 stocking holders, 7 kazoos, 14 ornaments, 3 finger towels, paint tray, roller, edger, baptism frame, 31 peel and stick tiles, potty seat, change pad = 52 items
Jan 4 – boots, 3 crossstitch mags, stroller
