My dog is working hard at being spoiled.

After Sasha died we had quite a bit of her food left over (what Chet likes to refer to as ‘the good stuff’). Chet has been on diet food for quite a while now as he’s a rather fluffy 89lbs, partly caused by walking him with Sasha so he was basically crawling and didn’t go very far, and part of it I think is that even though we had him on weighloss food, if Sasha wasn’t hungry Chet got her leftovers.

We’re certainly not going to let that super fancy, no filler, extra-good-stuff-added stuff go to waste (or waist) so we’ve mixed it with Chet’s food. Little treat for him, little weighloss food still added.

For a little while I didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary, Sasha wasn’t the tidiest of eaters. Then last week I watched him eat and I realized the damn dog is sorting his food! The kibble are slightly different sizes and no kidding he’ll grab a mouthful and the larger (or as he refers to it ‘yuk’) stuff comes tumbling out. All over the kitchen floor. At first it was a sort and prioritize. So he’d gobble the good stuff and then come back for the scrapings when he was hungry. Now, he’d eat his tail before eating it. And he’s upped the ante too, he’s kicking the kibble into other rooms.

I’m getting tired of telling V to pick it all up! (what? she’s much closer to it than I am!)

    Chet knows what he likes!
Tilly did the same thing when we switched her food. We tried to do the gradual change, but she’d litterally pick out the new “good” stuff, and leave the old stuff behind. So much for gradual!

C'mon, tell me what you think. You know you want to!
